Wigan Athletic today confirmed the signing of Grant Holt on a three-year contract.
The Cumbrian centre-forward ends a four-year spell with Norwich, having been a part of the club's resurrection, as they climbed from League One to the Premier League with back-to-back promotions.
Holt, 31, will now join up with his Latics team-mates at the club's Christopher Park training complex.
The 31-year-old forward netted on 78 occasions in 168 competitive appearances for the East Anglian club.
There were calls from many quarters of the media and footballing fraternity for Holt to be considered for an international call-up with England the season before last, after scoring 15 goals in his debut Premier League season.
Last season was less impressive for Holt, scoring just eight times for the club.
Speaking to Wigan Athletic's official website, manager Owen Coyle confirmed his delight at landing the English forward.
“This is a fantastic piece of business for us at a really good price," said Coyle.
"Grant is a proven goal-scorer at every level and he will definitely bring something new to the table that we were missing in the squad."
Holt arrived swiftly after the exit of Arouna Kone was confirmed - the Ivorian linking up with former manager Roberto Martinez at Everton.
Holt joins Scott Carson, James Perch, Thomas Rogne, Stephen Crainey, Chris McCann, and Marc-Antoine Fortune in committing themselves to the Lancashire club this summer, as they bid to make an immediate return to the Premier League.
