Luis Suarez is £40m Chelsea target

Published 45 Comments

Chelsea are lining up a £40million bid for Liverpool striker Luis Suarez after Arsenal’s £30million offer was knocked back.

According to the Mirror, new Blues boss Jose Mourinho is keen on the Uruguay international and the club are willing to test the Anfield club’s resolve with an extra £10million.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger reportedly sanctioned the bid after a continued failure to agree a fee with Real Madrid over primary target Gonzalo Higuain.

However, Liverpool rejected the Gunners’ advances immediately and are determined to hang on to star star striker.

However, the Mirror report claims Suarez has a clause in his contract that forces the Reds hierarchy to listen to bids of £40million and more, though they are under no obligation to sell at that price.

Chelsea have failed in moves for Hulk, Radamel Falcao and Edinson Cavani already this summer and the report claims Roman Abramovich is ready to put funds behind Mourinho bringing in another star striker.
