Charlie Austin's proposed move from Burnley to Hull has fallen through at the last minute after the striker failed his medical.

The Hull Daily Mail broke the story this morning and Steve Bruce later confirmed the news on talkSPORT.

Communications manager, Ash Lord, also confirmed the news on Twitter but refused to disclose why the move collapsed.

However, Bruce obviously didn't get that memo and told the Alan Brazil Breakfast Show that Austin had failed his medical.

The Hull Daily Mail points towards a problematic shoulder which he has dislocated three times in the last four years.

The 24-year-old former non-league striker hit 24 goals in 40 league appearances last season and he was elected as the man to solve the Tigers goalscoring problems.

With it still being over a month till the new season starts there is no need for the club to panic.

A third move for Celtic striker Gary Hooper is unlikely as his wage demands are said to be between £70,000-a-week and £80,000-a-week.

Bruce has been linked in the national press with a move for Bafana Bafana striker Katlego Mphela. The 28-year-old striker currently plys his trade at South African club Mamelodi Sundowns.

Other strikers linked with the club include Darren Bent, Ilombo Mboye and Adam le Fondre.
