Jonny Wilkinson and Jonathan Sexton will go head-to-head in France’s Top 14 in just the second week of the season.

The intriguing match-up will see the British & Irish Lions’ starting fly-half take on the man who turned down the opportunity to tour the southern hemisphere once again.

Sexton started all three test matches in Australia, but will return to domestic action with a bump at new club Racing Metro after the fixtures were announced.

Heineken Cup champions Toulon await in week two, with the metronomic Wilkinson lying in wait at Stade Mayol.

The England legend has agreed to play another year under Bernard Laporte, and will hope to go one better domestically after losing last year’s final to Castres.

Racing Metro are sure to be a title challenger this season however, with Sexton at No.10 and Irish legend Ronan O’Gara on the coaching staff.

Their early clash should give a good indication as to which team is heading towards the title.
