Anzhi Makhachkala have not held talks with Manchester United winger Nani, according to Anzhi chairman Konstantin Remchukov.

Russian newspaper Izvestia claimed earlier this week that the Portuguese winger's representatives were set to hold talks with Anzhi regarding a summer switch.

But Remchukov has denied the reports, and insists his side have no interest in signing the attacker.

The Anzhi chairman tweeted, as reported by ESPN: "The rumours about Nani are not accurate. At all."

The 26-year-old winger has been heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford since the beginning of last season.

A transfer to Italy was mooted in the January transfer window but never materialised. And Nani failed to make much of an impression on the United first-team.

His most memorable contribution came against Real Madrid, when he was sent off for a high foot tackle on Alvaro Arebola in the second leg at Old Trafford.

The report claims he's still viewed as surplus to requirements at the club, despite the change of management.

Anzhi were viewed as a potential landing spot for Nani, but that now seems to be put to bed. Nani has one year left on his United contract, so the Premier League champions will have to shop him this summer if they want to recoup a fee.
