Leeds United have emerged as frontrunners to sign Manchester City youngster Reece Wabara, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Citizens have also received enquiries from Doncaster Rovers, Millwall and Wigan Athletic for their full-back who has one year left on his current contract.

He made his first-team debut for City against Bolton Wanderers in the final Premier League game of the 2010/11 season, but did not feature in Roberto Mancini’s plans and has not made a second appearance.

But he has had loan spells at Ipswich Town, Blackpool and Oldham Athletic - who he played for 25 times in League 1 last season.

With the likes of Pablo Zabaleta, Micah Richards, Maicon, Gael Clichy and Aleksandar Kolarov already ahead of him in the pecking order, it is likely he will have to look elsewhere in order to play regular first-team football.

Leeds manager Brian McDermott is likely to be looking for a player in his position with 19-year-old right-back Sam Byram attracting interest from Crystal Palace.
