Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has revealed that he has both Aston Villa striker Darren Bent and Queens Park Rangers' Loic Remy on his transfer wishlist as his hunt for a new striker continues.

Both the manager and the new director of football Joe Kinnear are keen on bringing in a new striker this summer after last season saw them rely on Papiss Cisse too much.

The Toon lost their star striker Demba Ba in January after selling him to Chelsea and they are now left with just three recognised striker in their ranks.

Newcastle had been linked with both Arouna Kone and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang but both of those strikers have now moved on to Everton and Borussia Dortmund respectively.

Darren Bent is not considered first-team material at Villa Park and spent most of last season on the bench and is expected to leave the club this summer with Newcastle the likely destination.

Pardew is also interested in signing QPR striker Loic Remy after the London club was relegated from the Premier League last season.

The Newcastle manager tried to sign Remy in January but the Frenchman eventually chose QPR instead.

Pardew told theNorthern Echo: "Both of those players are on our list. I make no bones about that.

"But they are under contract at other clubs. It's difficult, you have to be careful. It's nice for our fans to hear names, but I don't want to disrupt other clubs' preparations.

"We have a list of four or five strikers who will push Papiss Cisse, Shola Ameobi, Adam Campbell and Yoan Gouffran because that will be important next season.

"We do need two strikers. Last year, I didn't think there was enough competition in that area for a Premier League team."
