With the summer transfer window well and truly in full motion, what bargains can clubs pick up from the free-agent market?

Below are five of the best free agents:

Kevin Davies

Kevin Davies is a name familiar to all English football fans.

After spending 10 years at Bolton in which he played 351 games for the club and managed 74 goals, Davies became a key figure at The Reebok.

Although now at the age of 36, Davies has shown time and time again that he knows where the net is.

He is an old-fashioned English centre-forward who defenders hate playing against.

Though he lacks speed and flair he has proved to be nearly impossible to deal with for even the best defenders in England’s top division over the years.

With him in the side there is always a constant goal threat which is why he could still be an important player for any team that is willing to take a chance on him.

Mark Schwarzer

Mark Schwarzer has been one of the most consistent players the Premier League has seen in recent times.

Having appeared 170 times for Fulham Schwarzer has time and time again put in top class performances at Craven Cottage, where he had become a real fan favourite.

Being a goalkeeper he could stillamazonp have another couple of years left in him. Any club looking for a solid man between the posts should definitely take the Australian into consideration this summer.

Chris Baird

Chris Baird is another player who, like Schwarzer, was recently released by Fulham.

The Northern-Irish international seems to have been around for an eternity yet he is still only 31-years-old.

The defender would be a great capture for many clubs including Premier League new boys, Cardiff City, Hull City and Crystal Palace, with ever-reliable right-back a sensible option for all of these clubs.

Florent Malouda

At one time Florent Malouda was up there with the best left wingers in the world.

Having spent five years at Chelsea, in which he played 149 games and scored 35 goals, the French-man went past full-backs with ease.

Now at the age of 33 his speed has deteriorated and he no longer has the ability to fly past defender after defender.

However, the former Chelsea man still possesses the ability to be a good player which no question makes him one of the most in-demand free agents this summer.

Carlton Cole

Like Malouda, Carlton Cole is also likely to be a wanted man this summer.

Being a strong, powerful striker with an eye for goal, Cole could be a perfect addition to the lesser teams in the Premier League next year.

Although he is probably not the most consistent of centre-forwards, on his day Cole has the ability to trouble the best defences in the league.

A move for the 29-year-old would be a very smart but also very difficult one as there is likely to be a high level of competition for the former West Ham striker.
