Former British Open Champion Fergal O'Brien has knocked out Ricky Walden on the second day of the Australian Goldfields Open.
The World ranked number 36 will now go on to face Dominic Dale in the next round after the 5-4 win over Walden.
Irish O'Brien was up 2-0, 3-2 and 4-3 before Walden pulled himself back level before O'Brien won the decider at 4-4, he was 53-1 up, securing the victory with the last pink.
After the match, O'Brien told World Snooker: "I missed a black off the spot when I had a chance to finish the last frame, and I feared the worst, but luckily Ricky missed a difficult yellow. It's a great win for me because Ricky is a very good player.
"I felt very fresh today, which was surprising because sometimes I have really struggled in China and obviously this is even further away. This is one of the majors, it's a great arena and the people here in Bendigo are very supportive of the tournament."
His next round opponent Dominic Dale took Mike Dunn all the way to the decider as well securing the victory 5-4 with the 64-25 win in the final frame.
Joe Perry got the 5-0 win over Asian Indoor games gold medalist Xiao Goudong and Shaun Murphy got the 5-1 win over Michael White. Shaun has taken John Higgins lead by using a new cue at the Goldfields Open.
"I'm playing with a new cue for the first time and it seemed to perform well," said Murphy. "It's important to try to get into a normal routine after you've travelled such a long way, which is very difficult, and usually the person who wins here is the one who adjusts the best."
