After a season in which they dominated the Bundesliga and humiliated arguably the best team in the world, it is no surprise that Bayern Munich dominate UEFA's best player shortlist.
Of the 10 nominees, Bayern have four players on the shortlist in the form of their midfield maestro Bastian Schweinsteiger, influential wingers Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben and the versatile attacker Thomas Muller.
The list is completed by Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo from La Liga, Robin van Persie and Gareth Bale from the Premier League, Robert Lewandowski from beaten Champions League finalist Borussia Dortmund and Zlatan Ibrahimovic from French champions PSG.
There is no surprise that Bayern Munich players dominate this list after such a great season capturing an historic treble. Schweinsteiger and Ribery were really outstanding all season. Schweinsteiger is the dictator of the Bavarians' world-class midfield, while Ribery was the magician who made things happen all the time and cause the opposition defence all sorts of problems.
Robben really got his chance after Toni Kroos got injured in the Champions League tie against Juventus and made the most of it. Robben won Bayern the Champions League by assisting Mario Mandzukic's goal while scoring the winner late on. Muller was his usual menacing self, with his tireless running and scoring important goals.
Messi may have the most impressive individual record, having scored 58 goals and bagging 14 assists leading Barcelona to the La Liga title. Ronaldo 55 goals while bagging 11 assists.
The La Liga stars lead the way for UEFA's best player award for 2012/13 - and it is really hard to see anyone beating any of those two to be named the European Player of the Year.
