British & Irish Lions victory leaves mark on Christian Wade
Christian Wade believes he’s benefited from British & Irish Lions tour
Wasps winger Christian Wade believes he’s benefited massively from his time on the British & Irish Lions tour of Australia.
Not initially selected in Warren Gatland’s squad, the England speedster was called-up as cover and featured in one warm-up match against the ACT Brumbies.
And, whilst he would have loved to play in a few more matches, Wade admits it was ‘something special’ to be involved down under, and thrived alongside some of the best players the northern hemisphere has to offer.
He wrote on his official Facebook page: “Finally landed back in England! What tremendous tour it has been, sooo great to be apart of something special!
“I may not have played as much on tour, but I've gained great deal from being around World Class Players, Legends & GREAT people!”
Wade is sure to be thinking about a holiday in the coming days after a hectic ten months for the 22-year-old.
The former Royal Grammar School student had a breakthrough year at Adams Park, finishing the Aviva Premiership campaign as joint-top try scorer. He subsequently won the Players’ Player and Young Player of the Year awards.
His form earned international recognition with an England call-up for the tour of Argentina, with impressive test match performances leading to the Lions call.
And, after touching down back in England, the winger has two months to prepare for the return of the Aviva Premiership season, with Wasps opening their campaign against Harlequins at Twickenham.
