For many years, Manchester United have dominated the Premier League, winning numerous titles and keeping their neighbours very quiet, until 2011/12 when Manchester City became champions.
Since then we have seen United win the league again and both teams lose their managers who brought them their success.
Sir Alex Ferguson retired as the greatest manager England has ever seen, and Roberto Mancini was sacked by the City board after finishing second in the domestic league, having taken his squad to two FA Cup finals and bringing them their first league trophy since 1967.
With the two teams acquiring new managers over recent weeks, both squads are going to be extremely determined to succeed this season.
Manchester City have already made new additions to their talented squad by bringing in Spanish winger Jesus Navas and Brazilian midfielder Fernandinho - with more stars to follow before the start of the new season.
Every player within the Manchester City squad will be looking to impress new manager Manuel Pellegrini ahead of the new season, where Pellegrini will be looking to reach the latter stages of the Champions League for the first time since their rise to success and to obviously finish as league winners within his first two seasons.
As for Manchester United, they will be looking to strengthen their squad as they challenge to win the Premier League trophy for the sixth time in eight years.
Many fans are already starting to write them off as top four contenders, never mind regaining the title - but I ask why?
Sir Alex may have retired but he has not left Old Trafford all together, as he is still in the background and David Moyes is very capable of bringing success to the illustrious club.
Moyes will be hoping to continue their great run in Champions League campaigns, as well as bringing the title back to the Theatre of Dreams.
His players are still committed and as determined as ever to win titles. Manchester United however, do need to make some big-name signings in order to compete for the title against the likes of Chelsea and neighbours City.
The United midfield is quite short on world class talent when comparing to the likes of Chelsea's Juan Mata and Eden Hazard, added with Manchester City's David Silva as well as new signing Jesus Navas.
Rumours suggest that Spanish midfielder Thiago Alcantara could soon be joining the likes of Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney at Old Trafford.
