Paris Saint-Germain will find it difficult to retain their Ligue 1 title next season.
With the likes of AS Monaco, Lyon and Marseille back on their feet, the Parisians can begin to think of stepping up their game.
Laurent Blanc is surrounded by an impeccable squad of raw talent, experience and cohesiveness, maintaining the status of favourites to defend the silverware won last season.
But they must not ease up their spirits and forget about their closest competition. If their study of opponents’ fragilities and strengths is accurate enough, PSG will find their way to make the most out of their derbies.
In a championship as tough as the French league, winning against rivals is crucial to expand the gap away from them.
Is Blanc capable of grasping something more than just stability and balance, when assertiveness and confidence are needed?
The former coach of France is now in a serious test to please the crowd of his country’s capital. After an underwhelming spell for his national team, gathering only one win in Euro 2012, Blanc is in the spotlight to redeem his image on the lead of a top-notch squad.
Less than winning Ligue 1 is not acceptable, keeping in mind the quality standards of PSG. A difficult season to predict, one which will be defined by the success or failure between coach and squad.
If Blanc does not show the drive to take his team to a whole new level of fierceness, he might be compromising not only his future at the club, but also his future as a fruitful coach.
