For the past few weeks rumours had been swirling around that Manchester City are after the acrobatic Roma striker Pablo Osvaldo.
After a falling out with previous Roma manager, Zdeněk Zeman, and many players in the Roma squad, Osvaldo has now found himself on the transfer block and soon on his way out.
With Roma pushing for the sale of the Italian, many clubs are rumoured to be interested. Manchester City have been the largest club mentioned.
Various sources in Italy initially claimed that Osvaldo was on his way to city for a fee of £11.5m and the deal was almost complete, but recently conflicting reports have come out.
Italian media have reported that Roma had rejected City’s bid, while the Independent has said that City are no longer after him.
Just as reports begin to suggest that Manchester City don’t in fact want Osvaldo, another Serie A player is being linked with City: Stevan Jovetic.
Jovetic, currently at Fiorentina, has attracted interest from top teams for the past few years. With Fiorentina signing former Bayern Munich star and Germany international Mario Gomez, they might finally be ready to cash in on the 23-year-old Montenegro international.
According to ESPN, three of England’s best teams: Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester City, are all very interested.
So were the Citizens using Osvaldo transfer speculations as a way to work under the radar for Jovetic? That’s what seems to have happened.
La Gazzetta has recently reported that Jovetic’s agent is in England and Manchester City are very interested. There seems to be two certainty in all these speculations: Jovetic will be moving on to a major club this summer, and Manchester City will end the summer with a top-class striker, no matter who that may be.
