Chelsea target 'new Ronaldo' begs Sporting Lisbon for transfer

Published 22 Comments

Chelsea's hopes of signing Portuguese winger Bruma have been boosted, after the talented teenager begged his current club Sporting Lisbon to let him leave this summer.

The London Metro reports how the reigning Europa League champions have already had a £12million bid turned down for the player - described as the 'new Cristiano Ronaldo' - but are ready to make a renewed offer to secure his signature.

Jose Mourinho is eager to bring the 18-year-old to Stamford Bridge this summer, after being impressed by Bruma's performances at the U20 World Cup in Turkey.

Sporting Lisbon are determined to hang on to the forward for at least another 12 months, but might be forced to consider a sale if Bruma hands in an official transfer request.

Having had his head turned by reported interest from Chelsea, Bruma appears determined to move to the Premier League. And, according to Portuguese publication Record, an improved bid of £15million could sanction his switch to west London.

Real Madrid and Manchester City have also been credited with an interest in Bruma, but it's Chelsea who are the current favourites to land the promising youngster, who is keen to link up with Mourinho next season.
