Aston Villa's out of favour striker Darren Bent is wanted by AS Roma, reports Italian website calciomercato.com.
The England international made just 12 appearances for the Villains last term, but still managed six goals, and it has remained a mystery as to why manager Paul Lambert has frozen him out.
The Stadio Olimpico club have also been linked with Arsenal's Gervinho, and it is believed their American owners are keen on tracking players from the Premier League.
Newcastle have also been linked with the 29-year-old, and it is expected he will be sold in this transfer window for considerably less than the £24m Villa paid Sunderland for his services in January 2011.
They are prepared to release Bent for approximately £6m, though as of yet no formal offer has been received for the former Tottenham Hotspur player.
But the Giallorossi have approached the Midland club, and are currently waiting to see what the competition for his signature is like.
A complication for any sale is the transfer request Villa have recently received by Belgian forward Christian Benteke, meaning they may want to hold on to Bent until they have other options.
