Dereck Chisora has promised to put an end to Malik Scott’s trash-talking when the pair meet at Wembley Arena July 20.
The heavyweight bout billed as ‘Behind Enemy Lines’ sees Brit Chisora take on the American Scott who has yet to be defeated in his professional career.
The pair, who are both notorious for their antics outside of the ring, have been exchanging words in recent weeks with Scott most recently branding Chisora a “freak show”.
Chisora responded by saying: “He certainly has a big mouth and I just can’t wait to fight him and silence him.
“He can call me a freak, or whatever he wants, but, at the end of the day, I am paying his bills because he is coming here to fight this freak.
“In many ways, I love it when opponents resort to that kind that kind of talk because, in a way, it inspires me to do well and sort them out.”
To some the idea of Chisora remarking on other fighter’s pre-fight shenanigans might sound slightly odd. ‘Del Boy’ has a history of controversy almost as long as his boxing resume, having entered the spot-light on more than one occasion for the wrong reasons.
Incidentally it was Chisora’s actions before, during and after his world title fight with Vitali Klitschko that Scott focused his verbal assault around. Chisora made the headlines for slapping his opponent at their weigh-in and spitting in the face of Vitali’s younger brother Wladimir, before partaking in a brawl with fellow Brit David Haye whilst at the post-fight presser.
Scott stated: “Dereck is known for everything outside the ring and he is a freak show outside the ring.
“And every time he has stepped it up in the ring, he has been caught short, David Haye beat him, Vitali Klitschko beat him, Tyson Fury beat him.”
Chisora responded by promising: “He can talk all he wants, but I know who will win.
“However, it is going to be a hard fight for me, but this guy is going to come unstuck believe me.
“If you look at his record, he hasn’t fought anyone.”
