Angelo Ogbonna is to undergo a medical at Juventus, ahead of a pending cross-city move from Torino, skysports.com have reported.
The centre-back has been a long term target for the reigning Serie A champions, and he now appears close to signing for €10m.
He played an important role in ensuring Torino’s survival in their first season back in the Italian top flight and has picked up six caps for his country.
A statement on Juventus’ official website confirmed. "The 25-year-old defender is visiting Turin's Fornaca clinic and Medicina dello Sport center ahead of a proposed move to the Bianconeri.”
Ogbonna, who is of Nigerian descent, is manager Antonio Conte’s fifth signing of the summer transfer window so far, after the previous acquisitions of Carlos Tevez from Manchester City, Alberto Gallinetta from Parma, Federico Peluso from Atalanta and Fernando Llorente from Athletic Bilbao.
The completion of the transfer will take their summer spending to €23.8m so far, as Conte tries to assemble a team capable of winning a third consecutive Scudetto.
