Richard Chaplow set for Millwall move

Southampton midfielder Richard Chaplow is expected to complete a move to Millwall in the coming hours, after meeting with manager Steve Lomas on Tuesday afternoon.

The tenacious 28-year-old midfielder joined Southampton from Preston North End for an undisclosed fee while the Saints were in League One. He has since made 61 appearances for the club.

It was Chaplow's second spell with the Saints after a period spent on loan during the 2005/06 season.

Chaplow was one of previous manager Nigel Adkins' first signings. His chances were limited after injury during the 2010/2011 season, and he has hardly featured for the side in the Premier League.

Chaplow's out-of-favour status has been cemented since the appointment of the club's Argentine manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Chaplow spent time on loan at Millwall at the back end of last season, before a major injury caused him to return to the south coast.

Millwall have reignited their interest and Chaplow is set for a return after completing a medical.
