Sweden’s women missed the chance to make a winning start at Euro 2013, missing two second-half penalties in the 1-1 draw against Denmark.

The tournament hosts went behind to Mariann Knudsen’s effort, but Nilla Fischer headed an equaliser to give the Swede’s hope of victory.

They certainly had their chances in the second period, with Lotta Schelin’s spot-kick easily saved after a controversial penalty decision from the referee.

Kosovare Asllani then had the chance to make amends for her teammate on 84 minutes, but again Stina Petersen was up to the challenge to save the Danes.

It leaves Group A tantalisingly poised, after Finland held Italy to a draw in their first match.
