Tottenham Hotspur have released their kits for the new season and their new strip will be the first any Premier League team will have worn made by Under Armour.
It is the first deal that the American sports clothing brand has signed with a sports team, and it was modelled on Monday by Spurs players Jermain Defoe, Michael Dawson and Brad Friedel.
The new strip is also being endorsed by American sports broadaster NBC, who will be unveiling a larger-than-life billboard in Times Square, New York with Gareth Bale wearing the kit.
A light blue away strip was the second to be unveiled along with a traditional white home kit with black shorts, and Defoe is pleased with the design.
He told GiveMeSport, via a press release: “I’d call it a striking blue (the away strip). It’s a lot lighter than our previous kit and it will help us dry quicker. That’s important at the start of the season, so mentally it helps.
“We always look forward to seeing the new kits. I’ve played in some good ones here but this is definitely up there with the best of them.”
A press release sent to GiveMeSport from Under Armour read: “The kit is designed to keep Tottenham’s players cool, light and dry, even in the most physically-demanding situations on the pitch, by being equipped with Under Armour’s signature HeatGear technology.”
Andre Villas-Boas’ team will play in the kit for the first time in their opening game of the new season, in a fixture away to newly-promoted Crystal Palace on August 18.
