Liverpool striker Luis Suarez is said to be desperate to play in the Champions League, and it is now believed to be the real reason the Uruguayan wants to leave Liverpool.
Suarez was quoted on Uruguayan radio speaking of the rumours surrounding himself and just where he will end up this summer.
His agent Pere Guardiola met with Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers and managing director Iain Ayre on Monday, where he is believed to have outlined his client's position.
“It is good to know that I am still valued by teams like Arsenal. Friends call me up to ask if I am moving to Chelsea. ‘Ha ha,’ I said."
“Now there are two or three options and the club knows. There are no offers [other than Arsenal] yet but Liverpool know exactly what is going on and what I want. A phone call could change everything.”
These comments must be frustrating for Liverpool fans who idolise the striker, especially after he has previously said he wants to leave England due to the press not liking him.
Since these comments, Arsenal were believed to have bid around £30m for the player, with rumours now emerging that Chelsea may also make a serious move for the player.
At the very least, Liverpool fans would have the right to question the integrity and the honesty of the player, after telling them of his dislike for the English press as being the sole reason for him wanting to depart the club.
Just how Liverpool would react if Suarez ended up at another Premier League side would be a sight to behold.
At least it would make for an exciting match and give us writers something else to waffle on about.
