Chelsea have encountered further complications in their pursuit of the player dubbed the ‘new Cristiano Ronaldo’ – Sporting Lisbon starlet Bruma.

Jose Mourinho is not the only manager with his eye on the 18-year-old forward, as his agent confirmed he has had an offer from Galatasaray as well as out of Stamford Bridge.

Bruma caught the eye playing for Portugal in the Under-20 World Cup in Turkey recently, scoring five goals in the tournament.

Chelsea have been linked with him for some time and Catio Balde told Portuguese Radio that he had been handed an offer by them.

“I was in charge of presenting offers to Sporting," he is quoted as saying.

"There are offers from foreign clubs, from Chelsea and from Galatasaray, worth €8 million, that could reach €12 million.”

The Turkish champions will want to Bruma to help provide service to Chelsea legend Didier Drogba, whom currently plies his trade in Istanbul, but indicated they are unlikely to be the only two to make a bid.

“From this moment on, considering that he is a highly coveted player, it is possible that more offers will arrive, because I know that several clubs were waiting for the best moment to make a move. Right now, Bruma's mind is not on Sporting,” he added.

Balde’s last comment was telling, as it has now emerged that he and Sporting are set for a legal battle over whether the talented forward is still under contract.

Chelsea may well be able to capture Bruma for a nominal fee if Balde’s insistence that the player is no longer under contract will be ratified by a court is accurate.

"Now Bruma heads totally out of Sporting. If the case goes through the courts, no problem,” he said.

It has turned into an ugly spat and the player himself us regretful, but was adamant that he was not at fault and would be moving on.

"I deeply regret the outcome of this matter. I did everything to stay at Sporting and I made it clear to my representatives to try to reach an agreement. But after all this time, Sporting did little for me to renew," he told the Portuguese press.

"I want to avoid any sort of controversy with Sporting and especially with the fans. I am a professional and I will continue my career."
