Four Bayern Munich players make the shortlist for UEFA's European Player of the Year award
Bayern Munich players dominate UEFA’s list for European player of the year.
They have shortlisted 10 players for the prestigious award, and Thomas Muller, Frank Ribery , Arjen Robben and Bastian Schweinsteiger have all received nominations.
Bayern won the historic treble of the Champions League, Bundesliga and DFB-pokal last season, andthe number of players nominated is a reflection of their dominance.
Lionel Messi from Barcelona and Cristiano Ronaldo of Real Madrid were also shortlisted, who scored 115 goals between them last season. Tottenham’s Gareth Bale and English champions Manchester United’s Robin van Persie are the representatives from the Premier League, along with Paris St Germain's Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
It will be the third edition of the award won by Messi in 2011 and Andres Iniesta last year. The award will be handed out on August 29 in Monaco, the day of the Champions League group stage draw, and one day before the European Super Cup.
