Inter Milan have recently been in no shape to even step into the European competition spots in the Serie A table.

When analysing the mentality of the club as well as the staff and squad, some questions rise about the Italians efficiency.

These three fields – mentality, staff and squad - are responsible for outcomes and displays, and on the pitch, things are not working in the most dynamic fashion.

Firstly, the mentality of Inter Milan is clearly shattered and even worse, not clearly defined. Although it is obvious that the Nerazzurri fight for the top positions, their real valour does not compare with their objectives. Not being able to perceive directions was the main factor for the squad to be a rabbit in the headlights.

But the squad is also struck by another issue. The team’s lack of players with game-changer status is directly connected with the incapability to deliver at the level required. This problem leads to the squad being unable to look for inspiration.

The last point of connection in the jigsaw is the staff. Coaching for Stramaccioni was making gold out of stone, a task clearly impossible for the young coach. But he wasn’t the only one to be overwhelmed by Inter.

Claudio Ranieri, Gian Piero Gasperini, Leonardo and even Rafael Benítez (with a Champions League winning squad) were stricken when seating as tacticians.

The staff is the main point to find resolve for the other deficiencies. None of the last five managers were able to come with answers to solve the problems faced, and now Walter Mazzarri as to think out of the box. The former coach of Napoli was able to perform at good pace with Napoli, finishing in the top 5 for the past three seasons.

Mazzarri can finally be the right man for the job. If the Tuscany born coach redesigns and enriches the squad, finding important assets for development, as he did with Edinson Cavani, Ezequiel Lavezzi and Marek Hamsik, he can surely help Internazionale in their desired ascendency.

The result will clarify the possible objectives the club can achieve, and the squad will be more composed and enlightened as to what it is expected of them. Then the Giuseppe Meazza can brighten up.
