QPR are focusing their efforts on bringing Irish centre-back Richard Dunne to Loftus Road, according to ESPN.
Dunne, who has extensive experience in the Premier League from his time with both Manchester City and Aston Villa, is a free agent now and with QPR looking to fill a large Christopher Samba shaped void in their defence, may well make an immediate return to football.
Villa released the 33-year-old at the end of last season after the Irishman failed to make a single appearance in the 2012/ 13 campaign due to a serious Achilles injury.
QPR manager Harry Redknapp, who has also shown a keen interest in Tottenham’s Scott Parker, is reportedly looking for experience to lead the way in promotion from the Championship. With Christopher Samba’s departure back to Anzhi, Dunne could well be the man QPR need to steady their defence.
Doncaster Rovers were said to be weighing up the prospect of signing Dunne themselves, but the lure of QPR under Redknapp’s management should be enough to convince Dunne that his future is at Loftus Road.
