Keisuke Honda scored twice as CSKA Moscow beat Zenit St Petersburg 3-0 in the Russian SuperCup final yesterday.
In a thoroughly one-sided affair, Honda’s second goal was the pick of the bunch. The Japan star picked up the ball on the right edge of the penalty area, darted past three weak Zenit challenges before firing home from 25 yards.
The 27-year-old attacking midfielder has been linked with a move to the Premier League this summer – Everton were reportedly interested. He has just six months left on his CSKA Moscow contract, but it’s hard to see why they wouldn’t look to renew.
The Russian Premier League season gets underway again next week, when Zenit travel to Krasnodar and CSKA Moscow make the trip to Ural. Will we be seeing more of these kind of goals next season - or will Premier League fans get them instead?
