West Brom want to sign Spurs forward Clint Dempsey according to the Daily Mirror.
Dempsey only joined Tottenham Hotspur last summer from Fulham for £6 million.
The American has now reportedly been transfer listed and could be sold in order to raise funds for Spurs' pursuit of Christian Benteke.
The 30 year old has scored 12 goals in 43 appearances for Spurs. Many of these goals were in important games against the likes of Manchester City and Manchester United.
Dempsey is also a regular for his country. He has netted 35 goals in 98 caps.
The American is versatile and can operate on the left and right wing. He is most comfortable in the hole behind the striker.
Dempsey may be open to moving to West Brom with the World Cup next year. He will want to be playing first team football which he may not be guaranteed at Spurs.
West Brom manager Steve Clarke is chasing Dempsey to add more options to his forward line. Romelu Lukaku has returned to Chelsea after his loan and Peter Odemwingie is expected to depart after his behaviour last season.
West Brom are facing problems to sign Dempsey with Spurs looking to receive at least £6 million for the American, his wages are also thought to be too high for the Baggies.
Clint Dempsey would be a good signing for West Brom if the American can replicate his form from his last season at Fulham where he scored 23 goals in 46 appearances.
