Having lost their star man Mario Gotze to arch-rivals Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund went all out to secure a suitable replacement.
The man charged with the difficult task of filling Gotze's boots is the Armenian star Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who they signed from Shakhtar Donetsk.
Mkhitaryan has been in great form in the Ukrainian League and also in the champions league and he also generated interest from many of Europe's best clubs.
He was said to be close to joining Liverpool but chose Dortmund and has wasted no time showing his new teammates and the Dortmund fans what he is capable of.
Mkhitaryan featured in a pre-season friendly match against FC Basel and showed flashes of his class, quality and brilliance. He managed to set up Marco Reus for an easy tap-in and then scored a well taken goal inside the box.
He showed he is more than ready and capable of playing the neat, slick passing game of Dortmund when he exchanged passes with Nuri Sahin before unleashing a wonderful left-footed shot in the bottom corner of the net to the goalkeeper's left.
There is no doubt that Jurgen Klopp was impressed with his new recruit's performance and will be looking forward to get a lot more out of this gifted playmaker.
Mkhitaryan has been given the number 10 shirt that was left vacant by the departure of Gotze.
The Yellow Wall will be hoping that the Armenian will be their new hero along with Reus and will help them win silverware in the upcoming season.
Dortmund will be looking to challenge Bayern Munich for the Bundesliga title and the German Cup next season and will be looking to reach the Champions League final once again.
