Do Manchester United need Leighton Baines?
David Moyes has set his sights on Leighton Baines - but do Manchester United need him?
Leighton Baines enjoyed a fruitful season last campaign, which has seen Premier League giants Manchester United chasing his signature.
Baines' performances last season caught recognition from United, however the Red Devils already have experience and youth in the left-back position.
The Everton full-back played every minute of their matches last campaign, proving how much of a key presence Baines is at the left-back spot for the Toffees.
Now that David Moyes has become Sir Alex Ferguson's successor as Manchester United manager, he has been seeking a move for Baines to reunite with the player at Old Trafford.
The question is, do Manchester United need Baines?
Baines is a solid and versatile player, both in attack and defence. Baines is also seen as a work-horse, similar to Park Ji Sung who left the Reds for Queens Park Rangers last summer.
United already have Patrice Evra, who undoubtedly, had the best season of his Manchester United career last campaign, but with Evra being on the wrong side of 30, would United need to find a replacement?
The Red Devils also have Alexander Buttner, who wasn't the first player on Sir Alex's team sheet last season, and found the next twice for Manchester United last season in five appearances.
United also have Fabio, returning from a loan spell at QPR, although, the Brazillian has found it difficult to become a regular started for the Old Trafford club.
Everton are ready to offload Baines to Manchester United if the right price is found, which seems to be around the £17 million marker.
Are United willing to pay a price for a player that they probably don't need? After joining Manchester United in 2006, could Evra be on his way out, to pave a way for Leighton Baines to reunite with former boss?
The England full-back is not shy off 30 and has a few more years left in him. With his heart and energy on the left side of the pitch, United would pick up a decent, well-rounded player, but question raised is if United should shell out the money to buy a player who they may not really need?
