Bayern Munich have agreed a £21.6million deal with Barcelona for rumoured Manchester United target Thiago Alcantara.
The Spaniard will complete his medical later this week before signing a four-year deal with the European champions, re-uniting with former mentor Pep Guardiola.
"Thiago Alcantara was the great desire of our new coach Pep Guardiola," said Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
The 22-year old is believed to have been looking for a move away from the Nou Camp, in search of forcing his way into Vicente del Bosque's 2014 World Cup squad.
Thiago had looked destined to head to Manchester United before the Spaniard's former Barcelona coach Guardiola stepped into the running earlier this week.
Guardiola said: "It is either Thiago or nothing.
"I don't know what's going to happen. We have to wait. But I know him very well. He is a super, super player," added the Spaniard on Thursday.
Bayern confirmed they will pay an initial fee of £17.3million up front to the La Liga champions, with Thiago himself contributing some of the rest of the money.
Guardiola's Bayern will face his former club Barcelona, in a set of friendly matches spanning over the next four seasons.
