West Ham to decide on Orlando Engelaar
Dutch midfielder Orlando Engelaar could soon become a West Ham player
West Ham are expected to decide soon on whether to sign Dutch trialist Orlando Engelaar, talkSPORT have reported.
The Dutchman, who was released by PSV Eindhoven earlier this summer, played for the Hammers in their pre-season friendly against Bournemouth last Saturday in midfield, in a match that Sam Allardyce's team won 2-0.
He is also expected to play at Colchester on Tuesday night, where he will be playing for a place in the squad for the pre-season tour of Germany.
"We'll have him with us for a few days to see if he could be a valuable member of our team," Allardyce said. "We'll obviously make that decision in the near future."
The 33-year-old made just 10 appearances for the Eredivisie team last season, with half of those coming in the Europa League, and was deemed surplus to requirements by the club who signed him from Bundesliga club Schalke in 2009.
He has also made 14 appearances for the Netherlands, with his last cap coming in 2010.
