Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has reassured worried fans that the club will be strengthening their squad this summer and has admitted that they are working very hard behind the scenes in order to sign players.
A lot of expectations have been built around Arsenal this summer after it was announced by their chief executive Ivan Gazidis that the club are in a strong position financially and they presented Wenger with a transfer budget of up to £100m in order to add depth to the current squad.
However, so far this summer, Wenger and the Arsenal officials have failed to sign anyone except from French U21 international Yaya Sanogo.
The Gunners have been heavily linked with some massive names in world football including Stevan Jovetic, Gonzalo Higuain and Luis Suarez, but as of yet, nothing concrete has come from any of those speculations.
Arsenal are currently taking part in their pre-season tour of the Far East and they have started the tour off with a 7-0 thrashing of an Indonesia XI, but Wenger has admitted that they are doing work off the pitch, as well as on it.
"You want me to announce a spectacular signing but I can't," admitted Wenger, speaking on the Vietnamese leg of Arsenal's Asia tour.
"But we are working behind the scenes to strengthen the squad."
The Gunners' next pre-season match is on Wednesday night, where they will face Vietnam in the My Dinh National Stadium.
