Leicester City has reportedly rejected a second Nottingham Forest bid for centre-back Wes Morgan, according to SkySports.

"Wes is not a player I have any intention of selling so it doesn't matter whether there has been a bid or not", Nigel Pearson told BBC Radio Leicester.

Billy Davies has listed Morgan as a priority for Forest this summer, but Leicester seem determined to hold onto their powerful centre-back as they formulate plans for promotion next season.

When questioned on whether a bid had been made or not, the Foxes boss told fans: "It doesn't matter; it will have been turned down."

Moving to the King Power Stadium in January 2012, Morgan has quickly established himself in the side, earning himself the captain's armband and the club's player of the season award only a few months ago.

Forest allegedly improved their first bid of £1million last month by £500,000 as Davies recognnised the importance of bringing the popular figure back to the City Ground.

The defender began his career with the Reds in 1999 at 15, moving up from the academy in 2002 and enjoying 10 years and 402 appearances with the first team before transferring to East Midlands rivals Leicester last year.

Morgan left the club during Steve Cotterill's spell at the helm which heralded a somewhat uncertain time for Forest; in the same month as his transfer, the Reds were an uneasy six points clear of safety.

However, Davies' ambitions for next season will surely match those of Pearson with promotion being a real possibility if some careful changes are made over the summer.

A reintroduction of the 6ft1 29-year-old to into the backline at the City Ground along with recent signings Eric Lichaj from Aston Villa and Gonzalo Jara from West Bromich Albion could see Forest with a strong defence next season.

Both new arrivals are experienced, Premier League footballers and capped internationals for USA and Chile respectively.

Lichaj told BBC East Midlands: "It is a very good club, who are ambitious to go into the Premier League and that's where I want to be as well."
