Michael Carrick has told Manchester United's official website that working with David Moyes has had a good affect on the squad.

Carrick also claims that new Manchester United boss Moyes brings something extra to the squad with his enthusiastic and energetic approach during the training sessions.

Carrick who was a major player for Manchester United last season - playing in the majority of the games for the club - has become a key player for United over the last couple of seasons.

The ex-Tottenham Hotspur midfielder had nothing but praise for Moyes, who recently took charge of the club after Sir Alex Ferguson decided to call time on his glorious 26 years at the club.

Playing under a new manager won't be a new thing for Carrick who has played under a few other managers during his career.

However, Carrick will be playing under a new manager for the first time in his seven years at Manchester United.

Carrick also believe Moyes' 'hands-on' approach is having a positive effect with the squad offering something different to former manager Ferguson.

"The tour has been really good so far and there is a great atmosphere around the place," the midfielder told ManUtd.com.

"The manager has brought that in. He's enthusiastic and energetic and intense with his work, and that's rubbed off on everyone.

"Training has been good and there is a huge focus and a good feel around the place.

"The manager is hands-on in training. He's a lot different to Sir Alex in that sense.

"He tended to take a step back and let the coaches deal with things, whereas David likes to be right in the thick of it and that's good.

"It creates an intensity and everyone has responded to that."
