Gareth Bale is FIFA 14 UK cover star

Tottenham Hotspur winger Gareth bale has been revealed as the new FIFA 14 UK cover star by EA Sports.

The Welsh wizard will also be the face of the game, alongside Lionel Messi, in Ireland and the Middle East.

"The players on the front cover since I was a kid have obviously been legends of the game. It’s a great honor for me and I'm very proud of it,” Bale told the official EA website.

Bale has landed the prestigious FIFA honour after a fantastic individual season at White Hart Lane, winning both the PFA Players’ Player and Young Player of the Year awards in 2012/13.

And, as the face of this year’s game, plenty of Bale’s ‘special features’ will appear in the new game. That includes his individual free-kick taking style, running style and shooting style.

Other big names to grace various versions of the FIFA front cover for the 2014 edition include Juventus playmaker Arturo Vidal and Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez – as well as world football’s most recognisable face - Messi.

In terms of UK covers, Bale follows in the footsteps of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Joe Hart, Theo Walcott, Frank Lampard, Jack Wilshere and, most predominantly, Wayne Rooney.
