With the transfer window progressing and the season drawing closer, how could David Moyes improve his Manchester United team ahead of the 2013/14 campaign?
Here, we look at a potential Manchester United XI that could help fire Moyes to immediate success at the helm of the Old Trafford club.
Goalkeeper: David de Gea
The young spanish 'keeper has responded to the criticism he once received, and has become one of the best young 'keepers in the world. He should now have cemented a place in David Moyes' starting XI.
The young Brazilian full-back has yet to prove himself defensively, but has definitely proved his capability going forward. Rafael should develop into a very accomplished full-back and he should have a place in the first-team this season.
Centre-back: Nemanja Vidic
The experienced Serb should provide Moyes and Manchester United with composure, quality and experience, plus the leadership skills required for a club captain.
Centre-back: Ezequiel Garay
The 26-year-old Argentine currently plays for Benfica, but would be a great addition to the team should Moyes sign him. It would cost roughly €20 million to prise him away, but he would be worth the cash.
Left-back: Leighton Baines
The 27-year-old left-back has received an offer from United for a reported fee of £12 million, however Everton declined. If United could get their hands on him, he would be very valuable asset and would provide a lot of chances, with a helping hand on the free-kicks too.
Central defensive midfield: Michael Carrick
The Englishman has proved his worth this season, and is probably going to do it again this term. With him providing killer passes to Robin van Persie, he could be in for a lot of assists this season.
Central defensive midfield: Kevin Strootman
The Eindhoven midfielder is an excellent box-to-box type of midfielder, who has a lot of strength and power. He would cost around £12 million, according to reports.
Central attacking midfield: Shinji Kagawa
The Japanese international had a poor first season, but is expected to improve this time round. Watch this space.
Right-wing: Wilfried Zaha
The young Englishman is untested at the highest level, but hopefully will prove his worth following a £15 million move from Crystal Palace by bursting into the United team.
Left-wing: Gareth Bale
The Welshman is one of the best wingers in the world, and any move for him would cost upwards of £65 million. However, he would boost United's attack and provide a lot of goals. It's a scary thought for other clubs if he were to wear a United shirt.
Centre forward: Robin van Persie
The £24 million striker won the Golden Boot last season, and hopefully will do it again. The Dutch international is one of the best strikers in the world and has so much quality. He is the heart of United's attack.
Do you agree with this XI? Where do you feel United need to strengthen this summer? Have your say in the comments box below.
