Barcelona are almost the perfect team.

With the balance of a great defence combined with the short, slick passing movement within the midfield and the genius of Lionel Messi, which players would give this team that little bit extra?

We have already seen the arrival of Brazilian wonderkid Neymar, but here is a list of other potential signings for Tito Vilanova's side.

Thiago Silva | Paris Saint-Germain

The Brazilian centre-back is a rock in the heart of defence for club and country, and his performances over the years are deserving of a big move to one of the greatest clubs in football.

Barcelona have made it clear they want his signature this summer. His pace and defensive ability would enhance the already well-drilled Barcelona defence, he would be an immense signing for Vilanova and a great presence on the pitch alongside international teammate, Dani Alves.

David Luiz | Chelsea

Another Brazilian on Barcelona's radar. Luiz has impressed since his move to Chelsea, putting in some great performances during the season.

He has showed his adaptability by playing in defensive midfield, and also his free-kick technique and penalty taking are top class.

He would suit Barcelona's style of play as he reads the game very well, and has a high pass completion rate, but Luiz can often be somewhat clumsy by diving into challenges or by making the wrong decision.

Nobody is perfect, but David Luiz is able to play in several positions and still perform to a high standard.

Having only recently joined Chelsea, this transfer could have some difficulty in becoming a successful one, unless Barcelona are willing to pay around £35 million for his services.

Mathieu Valbuena | Olympique Marseille

Valbuena would bring something a little different into the squad of Barcelona.

He is naturally a winger, meaning he would operate in the right-wing position at the club - somewhere a certain Lionel Messi likes to play.

His decision making combined with his ability to create many goal scoring opportunities would enhance Barcelona's chances in those tight matches against top opposition.

Valbuena has the quality to be a first-team regular at Barcelona, and this would create more competition between Pedro and Cristian Tello for their right in the starting XI.

Valbuena could cost Vilanova around £12.5 million, according to reports.

Wayne Rooney | Manchester United

Many argue that Barcelona would not suit the likes of Rooney, but a striker who is still a class act could surely fit into a squad with a different formation and style of play.

His pure strength and determination would see him become a top goalscorer in the Spanish league alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
