Wallace Oliveira dos Santos, or simply Wallace, is a young Brazilian right-back who signed for Chelsea during the January transfer window.
He is unknown to most but could potentially be one of the stars of the future. At the young age of 19 Wallace has drawn comparisons to legendary full-back Cafu, in that he possesses the standard Brazilian attacking prowess whilst being defensively able.
His over-lapping runs and quick feet make him a nightmare for opposing defenders, with his crosses frequently causing havoc within the penalty-area.
He also possesses surprisingly sound tactical awareness with his ability to stay goal-side of his attacker and play the offside trap sufficiently, something not commonly found in a Brazilian full-back, certainly not one of his age.
For £4.4m, Wallace could turn out to be one of Chelsea's greatest buys of recent times as he looks well on track to become a fantastic defender.
The only hindrance for him would be competition for places at the west London side, with Cesar Azpilicueta recently making that position his own and Branislav Ivanovic certainly capable of playing there.
Another loan spell could do him good, but after that I'm confident he will return to Chelsea eager to impress the fans and the manager.
