Real Madrid to offer player-plus-cash deal for Luis Suarez

The transfer of Luis Suarez seems to be gathering steam with Real Madrid rumoured to be preparing a player-plus-cash deal for the player.

The Mirror reports that the Madrid based club are preparing an offer of Gonzalo Higuain plus £10 million for the Liverpool striker.

Liverpool are though expected to straight away dismiss the offer.

Gonzalo Higuain, on the other hand, is actually a long-term target of Arsenal, who too have bid about £35 million for Suarez.

Some believe Arsenal's interest in Suarez is aimed at pressurizing Real into lowering Higuain's price whom the Gunners value at around £20 million.

The fact that Arsene Wenger has refused to comment on any transfer plans has further increased speculations regarding the two players.

"You want me to anounce a spectacular signing but I can't," he said. "We are working behind the scenes to strengthen the squad, but I can't give you names."

Real though have hit out with plans to offer Higuain to Liverpool, sending Arsenal a clear message that they are willing to sell the player to other clubs.

Arsenal will now have to make the right decision regarding whom to target - Higuain or Suarez?

With Liverpool believed to be holding out for a £40 million offer for their striker and Wenger known to historically baulk at huge asking prices, it is Real who appear to be the realistic destinatoin for Suarez.

Meawhile Liverpool have not entirely given up hope of convincing Luis to stay put at the club with the club managing director Ian Ayre saying:

"This is an ambitious young player. He's talked in the media about wanting to play in the Champions League and all these things."

"It is our job to convince Lus that this is the right place to achieve those things."
