Barcelona president Sandro Rosell has admitted the Catalan club are interested in signing Paris Saint-Germain centre-back Thiago Silva.
Brazil international Silva was a key player for PSG last season, helping the club in winning the Ligue 1 title after signing from AC Milan on a five-year contract last summer.
Barca are looking to strengthen their squad and are said to be looking for a replacement for Carles Puyol who turns 36 next April.
Speaking to Catalan television channel 8tv on Monday night, Rosell was quoted by Marca.com as saying: "Thiago Silva is a player we want - the board as much as the coach. When it comes to him, the price is not an issue.
"We are negotiating with people for whom money is not a factor. And if they're not willing to sit down and talk, we can't do anything.
"It's a matter of the player convincing them to come over here and start negotiating."
Silva has been linked with Barca on a few occasions, however the PSG defender's agent said at the start of July: "If Barcelona were interested then they would have to speak to PSG, not to me.
"It is very difficult to see it happening though because he has a contract with Paris and they do not want to sell.
"Nobody has talked to PSG and nobody is negotiating with them or with us."
