Arsenal are on the trail of Tottenham Hotspur target Bernard as they look to inject some pace into the wide areas.
According to the Daily Star, Arsene Wenger has turned his sights on the young teammate of Ronaldinho at Atletico Mineiro in Brazil, who was heavily linked with a bid from fierce local rivals Spurs.
Bernard has impressed this season and recently broke into the senior Brazil squad, so it is little surprise there is Premier League interest in him.
The Arsenal manager could well be looking to replace an outgoing wide player, if reports of a £7million bid from AS Roma for Gervinho are accurate.
Meanwhile Tottenham had reportedly been priced out of a move for the 20-year-old, with his club reportedly putting a £17million price tag on him.
Bernard’s agent claimed Tottenham and Borussia Dortmund were interested before they received Galo’s demands, now this latest report claims Wenger is ready to step in.
The player has hinted he may soon play his last game for the Brazilian club, which would be the Copa Libertadores final taking place this week and next week.
"If it's my last game or not, it will be one of the most important titles in my career,” he said
