Liverpool’s Luis Suárez has made no secret of his desire to leave Anfield this summer.

But with the controversy that has constantly surrounded Uruguay’s all-time leading goalscorer, and Brendan Rodgers’ reluctance to let his star striker go, will anyone be able to grant Suarez’s wish and prise him away from Anfield?

Arsenal shocked the Premier League as the conservative spending Londoners launched a £30 million bid for Suárez, only for it to be turned down, although reports suggest that they have now bid £35 million, although Liverpool are thought to be holding out for a fee in the region of £40 million.

Whilst Arsenal are considering a second bid, it is Real Madrid who remain the favourites to secure the signature of the Uruguayan striker. Madrid is likely to be Suárez’s preferred destination, as he himself has stated that he feels victimised by the British press, and a move to Spain could be just what he feels is right to get his career back on track.

Despite finishing the season on the side-lines serving four of his ten match ban for biting Branislav Ivanovic, Suárez finished as the Premier League’s second top goalscorer with 23 goals in 33 appearances.

Having shown his undoubted quality with dazzling, match-winning displays for Liverpool, Suárez has proved that he is one of the world’s most gifted footballers, and that he is capable of starring in any side across the world.

But with a reputation for diving, and having previously attained bans for racially abusing Patrice Evra and biting Otman Bakkal, will anyone be willing to take the risk of meeting Liverpool’s £40 million valuation for a player who could well be banned for a third of the season?

As well as Real Madrid and Arsenal being linked, European Champions Bayern Munich have also been mentioned in the race to sign Suárez. With German striker Mario Gomez departing the Allianz Arena for Fiorentina, new manager Pep Guardiola will be considering a move for a replacement, and Luis Suárez could be just what he is looking for. Guardiola has been promised money to spend by the Bayern hierarchy so the £40 million fee could definitely be covered.

Suárez has said he always wants to keep improving, and has explained his desire to play in the UEFA Champions League. But what would be the best destination for Liverpool’s number seven?
