Sunderland have completed the signing of Emanuele Giaccherini from Juventus.

Juventus announced the fee was in the region of £6.5million after the 28-year-old put pen-to-paper on a four-year deal.

Giaccherini is Paolo Di Canio’s ninth summer signing as he looks to turn things around at the Stadium of Light.

Giaccherini has 14 international caps and featured at last summer's Euros.

The Italian can play in a number of positions, as he showed while playing for last year's Serie A champions Juventus and Italy at the Confederations Cup.

Giaccherini was arguably one of the tournament’s most outstanding performers which looks to have caught the eye of Di Canio.

Giaccherini is expected to join his new teammates in the Far East next week for the Barclays Asia trophy where the the Black Cats will play Premier League rivals Manchester City and Tottenham.
