New Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has revealed that he would find it a big disappointment if his side won the Europa League despite the club winning the competition just a few months ago.
After winning the Champions League in 2012 thanks to a penalty shoot-out victory over Bayern Munich, Chelsea were eliminated from the competition in the group stages and eventually went on to win the second-tier European trophy, the Europa League, thanks to a late Branislav Ivanovic header against Portuguese side Benfica.
Despite the success Mourinho, who left Spanish side Real Madrid in order to rejoin the Premier League outfit, has revealed that he doesn't want to win the competition and has admitted that he would be disappointed if they won the trophy.
Speaking to BBC Sport Mourinho said: "I don't want to win the Europa League."
"It would be a big disappointment for me. I don't want my players to feel the Europa League is our competition."
Mourinho has a rich history with the competition as he guided FC Porto to victory back in 2003, but as Chelsea boss, he is adamant that the Champions League is the only European trophy a club like Chelsea should be winning.
"That's the only European competition we have to play and that's the European competition we have to give our best," Mourinho, who won the Champions League with Porto in 2004 and Inter Milan in 2010, told BBC Sport.
Not only does Mourinho want European success, he also wants to win his third Premier League title at Stamford Bridge.
"The most important thing in football is to be the best team in the season and try to win your domestic league," he said.
"In our case, it's the most important league in Europe, so we have to try and be the best team and win the Premier League."
