Ariel Ortega is a name that will be familiar to many football fans, as he was a star of the Argentina side in the mid 90s.

Ortega is a River Plate legend and many of Argentinian football’s biggest names turned out for the final match of his career.

Players such as Romario, Juan Sebastian Veron, Javier Saviola and Roberto Ayala were present in front of over 60,000 fans at River Plate’s El Monumental stadium.

Despite all those stellar names playing, the best moment of the match between the River Plate XI  and the ‘Ortega XI’ came when the 39-year-old picked out his son Tomas in the area.

The 12-year-old took a touch before sending the goalkeeper the wrong way with a nice finish.

Ortega embraced his son and burst into tears as the emotion of the moment got a little too much for him.

It was a very touching moment and one young Tomas is unlikely to ever forget.
