Tottenham are hoping to secure the heavily coveted transfer of midfield prodigy Alvaro Vadillo from La Liga side Real Betis.
The 18-year-old winger, often likened to Real Madrid golden boy Cristiano Ronaldo, is wanted by Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas as a replacement for Tottenham's top goalscorer Gareth Bale, according to the Metro.
Vadillo, a Spain Under-20 international, has reportedly caught the eye of Manchester United, AC Milan and the north London club, after performing impressively since becoming a first-team regular in December.
Hence, Spurs officials are keen to commence negotiations as soon as possible in order to agree a deal, before risking a move for the youngster being hijacked by bigger teams either next summer or in January.
The Spaniard, however - who has spent two years learning English in the hope of joining the Premier League - could be seen as a potential long-term prospect, with the Wales player Bale's future still unresolved.
Meanwhile, Villas-Boas has already signed Brazilian playmaker Paulinho and is hoping to bring in Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke before the start of the season, aided by Spurs technical director Franco Baldini.
And, with some reports claiming Ronaldo himself could be on his way back to Old Trafford, there could even be two 'Ronaldos' in English football for the upcoming campaign.
