Atletico Madrid have agreed terms with Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla as he edges closer to a shock transfer, according to reports in the Spanish press.
Marca are running a report from Spanish radio station Onda Cero, which claims Atletico have already come to terms with the Spain international over a contract at the Vicente Calderon next season.
All that is left to do is negotiate a transfer fee with the Gunners, and the report claims Atleti president Miguel Angel Gil is in London to thrash out a deal with Emirates Stadium officials.
Arsenal selling Cazorla would be appear an unwise move for many fans, as his performances last season made him a favourite of the Emirates Stadium crowd.
Cazorla only moved to north London last summer from cash-strapped Malaga, so prising him away from Arsenal would likely take a significantly high transfer fee – something that has been scarce in Spain recently, outside of Barcelona and Real Madrid.
The Spain international proved to be one of Arsene Wenger’s crucial players and played in every Premier League fixture last season.
