Chelsea have distanced themselves from want-away Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke, according to Sports Direct News, as the Belgium international looks to complete a dream move to Tottenham.
The Blues manager Jose Mourinho has refused to deny any interest in the former Genk star, who is rated at around £25m, as he has Romelu Lukaku, Demba Ba and Fernando Torres already at the club.
The Special One has turned his attentions now to Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney, who is believed to be his top transfer target.
This paves the way for Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas to try and convince Villa to part ways with their 19-goal frontman.
The 22-year-old was instrumental in keeping Paul Lambert's side afloat in England's top flight last campaign, helping them fight their way out of a relegation scrap.
Benteke was left out of the club's pre-season tour of Germany but is expected back at the training ground on Thursday, despite having handed in a transfer request 10 days ago.
It is understood the player will be fined £20,000 if he does not make an appearance as Lambert and owner Randy Lerner's patience run thin.
The player went on striker to force a move through to Villa when he signed from Genk last summer, and the club will not tolerate such behaviour this time.
