Atletico Madrid has launched an ambitious £17.5million to sign Santi Cazorla from Arsenal, according to the Daily Mail.
After the departure of star man Radamel Falcao for £51million, Atletico Madrid are hoping to reinvest the huge sum to add depth in their attack.
The La Liga side are said to have turned their attention to Spanish international Santi Cazorla, after completing the signing of David Villa.
Miguel Angel Gil Marin, Atletico's chief executive, was in London hoping to persuade the 28-year-old midfielder to move to Madrid.
Cazorla hasn't travelled to Asia with the rest of the Arsenal squad, as he was given extra time off with his performances at the Confederations Cup in Brazil.
Atletico were on the verge of signing Cazorla from Malaga last summer, but couldn't match the £16.5million put on the table by Arsenal.
Cazorla was one of Arsenal's most important players last season, having netted 12 goals and providing 16 assists.
Arsenal are trying to improve their squad by signing Luis Suarez and Gonzalo Higuain - as they try to shape a side capable of finally delivering silverware to their fans.
